A free workshop for farmers, Extension agents and people interested in learning about farm loans, grant programs and marketing plans will take place March 2, at Fort Valley State University’s Agricultural Technology Conference Center (ATCC) located at 46 Camp John Hope Road from 8:00 a.m.-3p.m.

Topics for discussion include securing equipment and farm storage loans, using record keeping software, agricultural economics and information about grant programs offered through the Natural Resources and Conservation Service (NRCS).

David Martin, CEO of Widget Development and Trading Company, is coordinating the event.

“We want to make sure that the people that train the farmers are aware of all the current information,” Martin said. This includes the latest news concerning federal loans, sustainable farm practices and how to achieve good agricultural practice certification.

In addition, Martin said it is vital that Extension agents and others involved in disseminating data to farmers are up-to-speed so they can accurately relay the facts to their clients.

The workshop sponsored by Fort Valley State University’s Cooperative Extension Program, along with the Southern Sustainable Agriculture and Research Education (SARE) program has a registration deadline of Feb 27.  For more information about the workshop or to register, contact Martin at (404) 695-0141 or e-mail davidmartin@widgetdtc.com.
